Siemens Turbine Backlog Surges to 70 GW Amid Capacity Expansion

Siemens' gas turbine order book has climbed to nearly 70 GW, with the industrial giant booking 15 GW in new orders this quarter and launching major manufacturing expansion plans.

According to Utility Dive, Siemens has accumulated a substantial gas turbine backlog approaching 70 gigawatts of capacity, reflecting robust global demand for energy generation equipment. Company executives reported that the firm secured 15 GW in fresh orders during the latest quarter, underscoring the company's position as a key supplier in an increasingly energy-strained market.

The backlog comes with extended delivery windows, as manufacturing lead times have stretched to three years or longer. This supply constraint reflects broader challenges across the industrial base as demand for power infrastructure outpaces production capacity across multiple regions.

In response to market pressures, Siemens is aggressively ramping up production capabilities. The company announced plans to increase its transformer manufacturing capacity by 50 percent by 2030, a significant investment signal that demonstrates confidence in sustained demand for grid infrastructure and power generation equipment.
