Port Freeport has secured a new vehicle import partnership with Mitsubishi, marking a significant expansion of the Texas port's automotive business operations. The agreement positions the facility to handle increased volumes of imported vehicles as demand for the segment continues to strengthen, according to industry reports.
The port's automotive division has seen accelerated growth momentum, evidenced by recent milestone achievements with existing automotive partners Volkswagen and Höegh Autoliners. These developments underscore Port Freeport's competitive positioning in the U.S. auto import market and its appeal to major automotive manufacturers and logistics providers.
In addition to the new Mitsubishi arrangement, Port Freeport recently secured an $11 million grant that will support infrastructure and operational enhancements. The funding allocation reflects growing investment in the port's capacity to serve the automotive sector and broader cargo operations.
