The race for Fulton County Board of Commissioners chairman has narrowed to two candidates following Tuesday's primary election. Current Chairman Robb Pitts will compete against former Commissioner Mo Ivory in a June 16 runoff, after neither secured the votes needed to win outright in the three-person primary that also featured Commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr.
According to SaportaReport's coverage of Fulton County election results, Ivory emerged from the primary with the largest share of support, receiving 40% of votes cast (64,188), while Pitts captured 35%. The results set the stage for a competitive general runoff that will determine leadership of one of Georgia's most influential county governments overseeing metro Atlanta's largest local jurisdiction.
The Fulton County Commission chair position carries significant weight in regional affairs, overseeing decisions on economic development incentives, infrastructure investment, and public services that directly impact Atlanta-area businesses and residents. The outcome of the runoff could shape the county's approach to attracting corporate investment and managing growth in the metro area.
Both candidates will have less than two months to make their case to voters before the June 16 runoff election. The race represents a key moment for Atlanta-area business leaders and stakeholders seeking clarity on each candidate's vision for the county's economic priorities and governance direction during a critical period of regional development.
