OPEC Production Recovers, But Remains Below Quota Levels

OPEC's oil output surged 1.17 million barrels daily in July as Gulf members resumed production halted by regional disruptions.

OPEC's crude oil production increased sharply in July, rising 1.17 million barrels per day from June levels as major Gulf producers gradually restored output that had been suspended for three months due to regional supply disruptions. According to a Reuters survey drawing on vessel-tracking information and data from OPEC officials, oil companies, and industry consultants, the 11-member cartel's total production reached 19.85 million barrels per day in July, marking the second consecutive month of gains.

The recovery reflects efforts by Gulf members to bring production back online following earlier cuts made when output constraints affected key shipping corridors. However, the current production level still falls short of OPEC's formal quota targets, suggesting the cartel continues to manage production levels below its stated capacity.

OPEC's gradual output recovery signals a cautious approach to returning supply to markets as regional conditions stabilize. The ongoing gap between current production and quota levels indicates members are maintaining a measured policy that balances supply management with market conditions.
