Almassadam Satkaliyev, chairman of Kazakhstan's Atomic Energy Agency, is conducting an extensive fact-finding mission across China's nuclear infrastructure to examine operational best practices and development methodologies. According to OilPrice, the tour encompasses facilities at various stages of the nuclear fuel cycle, including operational reactors, plants under active construction, and supporting infrastructure for uranium extraction and fuel processing.
The visit includes stops at China's Tianwan nuclear plant, which is currently operational, as well as the Xuwei facility in the construction phase. Satkaliyev is also examining upstream operations in uranium mining and fuel fabrication, alongside educational and research institutions that support the sector. The comprehensive tour reflects Kazakhstan's interest in modernizing its nuclear capabilities through knowledge transfer from China's established nuclear supply chain.
