Georgia State Patrol responded to a fatal incident on I-75 in Henry County involving a pedestrian attempting to cross the interstate. According to GSP, the victim was a 47-year-old McDonough resident who attempted to traverse the eastbound lanes from the left shoulder, resulting in a collision with a vehicle.
The incident underscores ongoing safety challenges on major regional corridors serving the Atlanta metropolitan area. I-75, which runs through Henry County south of Atlanta, experiences significant daily traffic volumes from both commuters and commercial vehicles, creating hazardous conditions for any pedestrian activity.
The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatality. Safety experts recommend that motorists and pedestrians exercise heightened caution on interstate highways, where crossing is prohibited and shoulder usage is restricted to emergency situations only.
