The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will conduct its annual Operation Safe Driver Week from July 12 to July 18, 2026, across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. During the seven-day enforcement period, law enforcement presence targeting unsafe commercial vehicle operations increases substantially, according to the CVSA announcement made on April 30.
Drivers and fleet operators should be aware that citations or violations issued during Operation Safe Driver Week carry long-term consequences extending well beyond the enforcement period itself. Safety records and violation histories become permanent fixtures in driver files and commercial vehicle insurance profiles, potentially impacting employment prospects and insurance rates for years to come.
The CVSA coordinates Operation Safe Driver Week annually to promote compliance with commercial vehicle safety regulations and reduce accidents on North American roadways. Fleet managers and drivers are advised to review safety protocols and ensure full compliance with federal motor carrier safety standards ahead of the enforcement period.
