According to OilPrice, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has formalized a long-term liquefied natural gas supply agreement with Inpex, Japan's preeminent exploration and production company. Under the 15-year contract, ADNOC will deliver 1 million tonnes of LNG annually to Inpex beginning in 2028, sourced from the Ruwais LNG development project currently under construction in Al Ruwais Industrial City within Abu Dhabi's oil and gas hub.
The agreement represents a significant reinforcement of the established commercial partnership between the two energy majors and underscores ADNOC's strategy to expand its liquefied gas export capacity. The Ruwais LNG project, a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi's energy infrastructure expansion, will position the UAE as a more competitive supplier in the global LNG market as energy demand in Asia-Pacific continues to strengthen.
For Inpex, the contract secures stable feedstock for the Japanese market amid global LNG supply diversification efforts and Japan's pivot toward reliable energy partnerships.
