According to OilPrice, ADNOC Logistics and Services has committed $900 million to a newbuild order for four liquefied natural gas carriers, signaling the United Arab Emirates' intent to capitalize on surging global demand for LNG. The order, valued at approximately 3.3 billion UAE dirhams, represents a strategic investment in expanding the national oil company's maritime transportation capabilities as it seeks to increase gas shipments to international markets.
The vessels will be built at Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China, with delivery scheduled for 2029. This procurement underscores ADNOC's broader strategy to bolster its competitive position in the global LNG market, where supply constraints and rising energy demand have created favorable market conditions for major producers. The new carriers will be equipped with next-generation technology to support the company's export expansion plans.
The investment reflects the broader energy sector's response to sustained international appetite for liquefied natural gas as countries transition energy sources and seek to diversify supply chains. By expanding its fleet, ADNOC positions itself to capture growing opportunities in the LNG market while strengthening Abu Dhabi's role as a major global energy exporter.
