As summer heat settles over Atlanta, 7-Eleven is banking on frozen beverages to drive foot traffic and loyalty program enrollment. The convenience store chain has announced a "Slurpee Drink Happy Hour" running weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m. through August 25, offering large Slurpees for just $1 at select locations across the region. According to the company, the promotion builds momentum toward Slurpee Day on July 11, the brand's signature annual celebration.
The key catch for Atlanta consumers: the discount is exclusive to members of 7-Eleven's 7Rewards or Speedway Rewards loyalty programs. The company is encouraging non-members to download the 7-Eleven or Speedway mobile apps and register for free access. This strategy reflects a broader retail trend of using digital enrollment to capture customer data and drive repeat visits during peak seasonal demand.
Beyond the headline Slurpee deal, 7-Eleven is layering additional summer promotions to boost basket size and customer engagement. An exclusive Arizona Iced Tea Blue Raspberry Slurpee will be available throughout the warmer months, while loyalty members can snag Big Gulps for 59 cents. The retailer is also running a nationwide Slurpee Truck sweepstakes starting June 24, allowing rewards members to earn contest entries through app gameplay or in-store purchases.
For Atlanta-area convenience store shoppers, the promotions underscore how major retailers are increasingly using loyalty programs and limited-time offers to compete for summer consumer spending. The 3-to-6 p.m. weekday window also targets afternoon break-time traffic, a key daypart for convenience retailers seeking to drive sales outside traditional meal periods.
